USS Constitution

USS Constitution:


Named after the Constitution of the US, this frigate is the oldest floating commissioned naval vessel. Completed in Boston in 1797, the ship was built to protect American merchant ships from pirates. It also served in the war of 1812 where it earned the nickname "Old Ironsides". She was retired from active service in 1881.
