Battle Monument, Baltimore, MD




"Battle Monument, Baltimore, MD located on Calvert Street between Fayette and Lexington. It commemorates the Battle of Baltimore fought during the war of 1812 and occurred during September 1814. It honors those who died during the battle. It was designed by Maximilian Godfrey and built between 1815 and 1825 and is 39 feet tall. The monument is topped my a marble statue by Antonio Capellano of a female figure representing Baltimore. The monument is depicted on both the city seal and flag."
